Vandals' allotment strike causes huge damage

Vandals have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to equipment and sheds at allotments.

Seven sheds were set on fire and destroyed, along with tools, rotavators, water tanks and seedlings, at the site at Wincheap, Canterbury.

Allotments manager Chris Woolnough said: "It is terrible. We have never had anything this bad happen here before and the cost will have to come out of our pockets."
