A STUDENT who was the victim of online bullying is determined to keep using social networking websites.

Graham Mallaghan, a 36-year-old postgraduate student at the University of Kent, was targeted by a group on Facebook called "for those who hate the little fat library man".

More than 350 people joined and posted abusive messages on the group's messageboard before it was shut down.

Mr Mallaghan, who also works as a library assistant at the university's Canterbury campus, said he planned to continue using the site in a positive manner.

Mr Mallaghan said: "It was gut-wrenching to read what had been written about me."

But he added: "I do believe websites like this have a place if they are used positively."
