Community campaigners are urging people to vote to help Herne Bay win £50,000 worth of funding for the seafront as part of ITV Meridian’s People’s Millions programme.
They are hoping to drum up support for plans to improve disabled access to the beach, murals for beach huts, better signs, more picnic benches and online tools to help visitors to the town.
Herne Bay Coastal Park Community Action representative Colleen Ashwin-Kean said: “This is a great opportunity to promote Herne Bay and enhance our lovely coastline.
“So let’s make the most of our coast and vote on the 26 of November to win £50,000 for Herne Bay.”
The campaign is setting up shop on the junction of Mortimer Street and Bank Street today in an effort to encourage people to vote.
A short film will be shown on ITV Meridian tonight at 6pm and will be up against the Ellington Park Wildlife Garden in Ramsgate.
Voting opens today at 9am and runs until midnight, call 0871 626 8861. Calls cost 10p and people can vote up to ten times.
