The man, who is described as bald and about 40 years old, is said to have left the bus near Herne Common.

In an email written to parents, deputy headteacher Robert Green says the incident has been reported to police.

He said: "Last week, two of our students were on the bus from Canterbury to Herne Bay at around 6.45pm when a man who was described as bald and around 40 years old took pictures of them.

"He got off the bus just before Herne Common. This has been reported to the police who are addressing it, but we would be grateful if you could discuss this with your children and ask them to be aware of their safety and surroundings, particularly given the earlier dark evenings.

"We will continue to work with students on ways to keep themselves safe, but appreciate the support of all parents in discussing how best to ensure their safety with their children."

KentOnline has approached police for comment.
