Shoppers in the Marlowe Arcade will be able to see a massive block of ice continuing to melt until Friday as part of kmfm’s Countdown to Meltdown competition.

The radio station’s breakfast show presenter Bob Mower began the countdown on Wednesday at 12.30pm, with a £1,000 Whitefriars shopping trip up for grabs for the person who guesses when the ice will have melted.

The block measuring 500cm wide, a metre high and weighing 17 to 18 stone, is expected to finish melting on Friday, in the afternoon or early evening.

A set of coins frozen inside will measure how much of the block has melted, and when the bottom coin is released, the countdown will end.

Listeners have been sending in their predicted times all week and lines are open up until 7pm Thursday.

Text your entry into 81800, starting with the word MELT and then your full name, followed by your predicted time in hours, minutes and seconds.

Keep listening to kmfm on 106fm, on DAB digital radio and online at www.kmfm.co.uk to hear if you’re a winner.
