A Multiple Sclerosis charity are hoping to top the ballot box in the race to win a £250,000 home and edge closer to finding a new home.
The Kent Mulitiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre have been fundraising to move from their portakabin (left) in Merton Lane, Canterbury, to a new £1.3 million centre equipped with gym, oxygen therapy and hydrotherapy rooms.
They say the move is needed after fears their current base is falling into disrepair with members even labelling it "delapidated."
The charity was one of 3,500 applicants to take part in a competition by developers Persimmons Homes to win a £250,000 home which has now been whittled down to just 24.
They have been chosen to represent the entire south east region.
They have issued a mass appeal for voters for support before the ballot box closes on Thursday, September 20.
Chairman of the group Tony Meire said: "We are a small, independent charity which helps countless people across the county with this debilitating disease and which has been an enormous source of help and support to my wife, Anna, since her diagnosis nine years ago.
"We are currently running an appeal to raise £1.3m to build a new Therapy Centre to replace our dilapidated prefab which is too small and falling to bits. So far we have raised in the region of £500,000."
Mr Meire added any money raised before the end of 2013 will be matched by patron Frank Blake so after selling the home the charity could be in line for a £500,000 windfall.
The charity have raised £500,000 themselves through other fundraising.
He said: "We would very much appreciate your support for this unprecedented opportunity."
