Whitstable Town boss Justin Luchford wants to improve his ‘shocking’ cup record when the Oystermen seek to upset Harrow Borough in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Town welcome Borough, who lie 16th in the Ryman League, Premier Division, to the Belmont in the first qualifying round on the back of a good run in Division 1 South, which has seen them claim seven points from nine and record back-to-back clean sheets to climb to 10th following their slow start.

Luchford (pictured) said: "It’s going to be tough, we’re under no illusions. You always know they are going to be big and fit and strong. They are a good side and we’re certainly the underdogs.

"They will be in for a game, though. We have nothing to lose and it’s about time one of my sides had a cup run.

"My record in the cups is pretty shocking and hopefully we have earned a bit of luck to try and get us a scalp and get through a couple of rounds."

Scott Heard (illness) and Shane Hamshare (work) return but James Morrish remains away on holiday.

Luchford is hoping to sign his former Faversham captain Tom Hickman from Ramsgate before the weekend, adding: "I know Tom well and he was my captain every game at Faversham.

"He knows he is not going to walk straight into our side but adds experience and depth."
