Justin Luchford says he fears for the future of Kent football after striker Ian Pulman rejoined Ramsgate from Whitstable this week.

Town boss Luchford believes there are too many Kent clubs in Ryman League, Division 1 South and not enough good players to go round.

Pulman’s return to Ramsgate, just a few months after signing for Whitstable, highlights the problem.

Midfielder Dan Wisker is also leaving the Belmont and is free to speak to Herne Bay on Thursday although it’s believed he also wants to join Ramsgate.

Luchford said: “I really fear for the future of Kent football.

“Everyone knows everyone else’s business where players can’t keep their mouths shut and it’s disgraceful.

“We went out of the FA Cup at VCD and I questioned why I would want to pay players for a performance like that.

“The next thing I know, Ramsgate have put in a seven-day approach for Pully.

“He said he wanted to play for Whitstable when he came back here but he’s gone back to Ramsgate for more money.

“All the Kent clubs in our league are fighting for the same players and there aren’t enough to go round.

“We’re all too good to go down but with so many of us in the Ryman League, Kent football is a victim of its own success.

“We’re fighting a losing battle but all us managers think we can be the one to make a difference and that’s why we do the job.”

Town have this weekend off so are next in action at home to Horsham on Tuesday (7.45pm).
