New Whitstable Town boss Justin Luchford is prepared to give his squad time to make an impression before making any wholesale changes at The Belmont.
Town slipped to a 4-1 defeat at Chipstead on Saturday in what was Luchford's first game in charge but the Oystermen manager insists he saw enough from his players to suggest they have a future at the club and can begin moving up Ryman League Division 1 South.
While the Belmont boss has made a number of seven-day approaches, he does not expect to make too many additions to what he believes is already a big squad at Whitstable.
He said: "It is going to take a bit of time and a couple of weeks for people to bed in but there are a lot of players that can do a job already.
"I have no expectations of them, I know what I need to build and it's a case of enhancing what we have already got, not about bringing in a new squad."
The Oystermen travel to Godalming on Saturday with Luchford looking for an improvement from his team.
He added: "Saturday has given us a few things to work on and it's clear to see that we are suffering from a bit of a lack of confidence.
"We will go to Godalming on Saturday and set our stall out to be hard to beat. Like the other teams I have managed, we go away not looking to draw but to win the game."
