Revenge and local bragging rights are both on the agenda for Whitstable Town over the Easter weekend.

The Oystermen host Folkestone Invicta on Saturday before clashing with Herne Bay at Winch’s Field on Easter Monday.

Nicky Southall (pictured) may still be finding his way at The Belmont but the significance of the doubler-header is not lost on the Town player-manager.

He said: "There’s some extra spice. Herne Bay are our local rivals and Folkestone are flying at the minute so we’re looking forward to both games.

"We played Folkestone on New Year’s Day and put in a good performance. They got two late goals and we came away losing 2-1 when we should have won.

"We should have been 4-0 up at half-time but we went on to lose. We should have had three points off Folkestone, so we’ve got a score to settle."

Having rescued a 1-1 draw at home to Herne Bay on Boxing Day, the Oystermen are looking to go one better in the return fixture.

While Simon Halsey’s side have games in hand, there is still a chance Whitstable could overhaul their neighbours in Ryman League, Division 1 South before the end of the season.

Southall said: "They want to finish above us so there’s the carrot, to try to catch them.

"I’ve not really known too much about (the rivalry) but I’ve read up on the history of the clubs, I’ve done my homework and it’s a massive game for both clubs.

"There will be no quarter asked, tackles flying in, everything associated with local derbies. Everyone’s looking forward to it."
