Nicky Southall has called for a repeat of the impressive derby defeat of promotion-chasing Faversham when Whitstable host fellow strugglers Walton Casuals on Saturday.

Fourth-bottom Town are four points ahead of second-bottom Casuals in Ryman League, Division 1 South.

And with 10 games remaining, the Whitstable boss (pictured) admitted: "I don’t want to build it up too much and put too much pressure on the lads but it is an important game for us if we want to get ourselves away from the bottom and play with a bit more freedom until the end of the season."

Southall believes the 4-1 victory at Salters Lane set the standard for the remaining games and added: "We showed we have got that in our locker but we have got to stop being a Jekyll and Hyde team.

"Consistency is the key word. We have got to build on that game. There is no use performing like that in a big game against Faversham and then not turning up the following weekend."

Victory could take Town to 17th, a position they have not reached since October. However, Southall said: "We have got a lot of work to do and some big games coming up, not least Saturday.

"We have to be on our guard. Walton are going to be fighting for every point. No quarter will be given by either team.

"We can’t expect to turn up and beat them just because we played well and beat Faversham.

"We have to replicate that performance again. If we can do that, then we will win the game."
