Whitstable Town manager Peter Nott warns against complacency after two wins in a row

Peter Nott says his Whitstable Town side can’t afford to allow complacency to creep in against Whitehawk on Saturday, despite taking a significant step toward securing league safety.

The Oystermen eased their Ryman League Division 1 South relegation fears by moving six points clear of the drop zone with a 2-1 win against Walton Casuals last Saturday.

With Whitehawk challenging for promotion, Town manager Nott (pictured) admits the prospect of recording a third consecutive win will be a tall order but is glad his side’s battle to beat the drop is back in their own hands.

He said: "We’ve picked up 13 points in the last 13 games and I think last Saturday’s win saw us pick up back-to-back wins for the first time this season. It’s pleasing."

The visit of Whitehawk will be Town’s first game at Belmont since the ground was closed following a break-in last month, which saw thieves steal £5,000 worth of copper from the club’s changing rooms.

The Whitstable boss hopes he can deliver a win to repay the club and supporters, who helped rebuild the facilities. He said: "It’s our first game back so hopefully the faithful, who have been excellent, will turn out and we can give them a performance."

Kieran Morris (leg), Dan Wisker (hamstring) and Gary Sayer (groin) were due to train this week but are rated doubtful for the game.
