Witnesses are being sought today after a man died when his sports car was crushed by a lorry on the A2 near Canterbury.
The 44-year-old's cream MGB car is thought to have broken down at the side of the London-bound carriageway on Wednesday afternoon.
It was hit by a beige Scania tipper truck on the Patrixbourne section of the road at 3.15pm.
The car driver, from the Dover area, was declared dead at the scene and his family has been informed.
Dave Latham, clinical team leader at Canterbury ambulance station, attended the crash.
He said: "The patient was lying on the ground next to his car when we arrived and we worked on him for 45 minutes to an hour.
"He did have a lot of injuries, among them ones to his back and head, plus cuts.
"It was a good effort by the team, but sadly not enough."
Kent Police said the driver of the lorry was shocked, but not injured.
The road was shut between the Bridge and New Dover Road junctions for almost five hours.
London-bound motorists were advised to use the A20 and the M20 as delays built during rush-hour traffic.
Kent Police crash investigators were examining the scene until the road was reopened at 7.50pm.
Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to phone the Kent Police serious collision investigation unit on 01622 798538.
