Police have appealed for witnesses following a crash which left a pedestrian dead by the roadside.
The crash was reported to police on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near the Boughton bypass near the village of Dunkirk on Friday evening.
The pedestrian was a man in his 40s and was hit by a purple Ford Fiesta. He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The dual carriageway was closed at the Wincheap junction after the incident, leading to long delays on the roads around Canterbury while traffic was diverted.
Now officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Witnesses are asked to call the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference RY/COJ/258/17 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk.
