A Canterbury woman viciously attacked a “friend” who feared she was going to be left for dead in her own home.
Drunken Claire Royle laid into former room mate Yvonne Mitchell punching, kicking and stamping on her – as other friends stood and watched.
Then, to add insult to injury, Royle’s boyfriend Lee Campbell then poured a glass of wine over the injured victim.
Judge Adele Williams told him: “And the only reason you did that was to humiliate her.”
Now Royle, 28 has been jailed for three years and her 36-year-old street cleaner lover Campbell for two years.
The two, who both lived in Caxton Way, Canterbury, had pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm.
Claire Cooper, prosecuting said the victim was punched in the face during the attack after Royle had screamed “grass” at her.
“She was then kicked and during the assault asked others in the property to go for help..but they just stood around.
“Eventually the victim lost consciousness after being kicked and stamped on.
"The last thing she recalled was having wine poured over her by Campbell and the next thing she remembered was waking up in hospital and being treated for four cracked ribs.”
The prosecutor said Ms Mitchell later told police that during the assault she “feared she was going to die and then be left for dead.”
Paul Hogben, defending Royle, said she had been friends with the victim and had lived together.
“She and her friend had been drinking and she can’t remember now what had caused the argument.”
Judge Williams told them: “The victim was subjected to a vicious attack where she was punched, kicked and stamped on and then had wine poured over her.”
