A woman charged with the murder of her sister has been remanded in custody.

Phoebe Barton, 49, of Highland Road, Chartham, appeared before Dover Magistrates this morning (Saturday, May 15).

Barton was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon, namely a kitchen knife, following the death of her 51-year-old sister, Karen Barton (pictured) who also lived in Highland Road, Chartham.

Magistrates remanded Barton in custody until Tuesday, June 1, 2010, when she will appear at Maidstone Crown Court.
