A woman has died after being hit by a train near Canterbury.

The elderly lady, in her 70s, died near Broad Oak Road last night.

Police were called to the scene at 8.36pm, following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended, but sadly the elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
