People in east Kent are being encouraged to join with police to cut anti-social crime.

Officers are supporting the Not in My Neighbourhood week which begins on Monday.

The Government initiative aims at showing people how they can work with police to make their communities safer.

Ch Insp Mark Harrison said: “We know that when we work with local people and our partners we can be even more effective and make a positive difference to the community.

“This week gives us the opportunity to promote the good work that goes on everyday in the area and draw attention to ways in which people can get involved to make their neighbourhood a safer one.”

Officers are proactively policing the dispersal areas in Westgate and Heron wards.

They have also been working with the community to tackle speeding motorists in Rough Common and Harbledown and graffiti under-age drinking in Whitstable.

A meeting for people from Chestfield to have their say on policing in their area is at the WI Hall from 7.30pm to 9pm on Monday.
