A young woman was woken up this morning by her home shaking after a car veered off the road and collided into it.
Leyla Peakall, 27, of Bekesbourne Lane, Canterbury, said she sat bolt upright in bed after a car smashed into her Fiesta Zetec-S outside her home.
The teacher was home alone at the time with her partner Andrew Harkett working at a Sturry care home.
Ms Peakall frantically pulled her curtains apart to see the car manouvering out of her drive before speeding off towards Bridge.
She said she was sure a man was behind the wheel.
Neighbours contacted the police who attended to take a statement from Ms Peakall.
She said a registration plate found outside her home was traced to a car owner in Woking.
She said: "The car must have been going around 70mph. Obviously he doesn't know the roads and has just flown past the corner.
"I just heard this loud bang and it felt like a vibration. I thought it something had fallen over downstairs.
"When I ripped my curtains apart I saw this car manouvering out the drive. I was frantic, distressed and disorientated having just woken up."
The driver, from Surrey, reported the incident to police after visiting Kent and Canterbury Hospital with minor injuries.
He has not been arrested but officers are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
