Youngsters from Whitstable YBC among the medals at nationals

Teenage Whitstable YBC tenpin bowler Hannah Frost returned victorious from the 2009 Junior National Championships in Nottingham.
Frost won four golds and set a new national record for her overall performance, smashing the six-year-old previous best in the process.
She won the Intermediate Girls’ Singles for 13 and 14-year-olds with 579 points and the doubles with Zoe Oldham, scoring 635 of their combined 1,112 points.
She also contributed 641 of the 2,543 points accrued by the girls’ team of Katie Reeves, Lesley Waters, Oldham and Chelsie Pyle to secure her third gold medal of the tournament.
Over her nine games, Frost totalled 1,855 points at an average of 206 which earned her her fourth gold and a new national record, beating the previous best mark, set in 2003, by 112 pins.
Whitstable sent 30 youngsters to the 43rd annual competition, with several other fine performances.
Ryan Emptage hit a personal best series of 495, Jemma Purcell raised her high game to 155 and her series to 405, Stephanie Drake raised her best series to 431 and Steven Emptage increased his high game to 204 and his series by 63 pins to 561.
