Action demanded by some Kent fans

DISGRUNTLED Kent CCC supporters are joining forces in a bid to force an extraordinary general meeting of the county club.

Threatened by relegation from the totesport League and dogged by inconsistency despite their second place in the Frizzell Championship, disenchanted Kent fans have been coming forward to sign a petition which has been raised by life member Graham Long, from Wadhurst, at the game against Surrey at Canterbury.

Though Mr Long was reticent to go on the record over his concerns, he was prepared to show the Kent Messenger Group the basis for his petition, which is entitled Serious Concerns For The Future of Kent Cricket Club.

Under six sub-headings Mr Long questions the efficiency and planning of club management, the necessity of some backroom staff posts, the club's recent poor record of signing new players and the communication levels between the county and supporters.

Should he receive the backing of 100 members Mr Long can, within the constitution of the club, call for an EGM by declaring a vote of no confidence in the management and committee to enable a debate over the issues in his petition.
