Milnes said: "It’s a pretty special moment. I didn’t have a clue it was happening and it was very nice my family could be there as well."

Milnes has impressed for Kent across all formats. Milnes leads the wickets in the T20 Blast this summer, taking 18 in 12 matches at 16.66 to help the team to finals day.

Milnes took career-best figures of 6-53 against Leicestershire in the County Championship win last week.

It took his tally to 20 championship wickets at 24.15 apiece, and Milnes followed it up with four wickets in the first session against Worcestershire at Canterbury on Sunday morning.

This season also saw Milnes post his career-best first-class score with the bat, making 78 against Yorkshire in April.

Milnes is the 220th player to be capped by Kent. He received his cap at lunch on day one against Worcestershire.
