A seam bowler has signed a Kent contract extension - despite missing the entire 2024 season due to injury!

New Zealander Quinn missed the summer with a back problem but returned to fitness to make Kent’s squad for last month’s season-ending County Championship Division 1 draw against Durham at Chester-le-Street.

Quinn, 31, said: “I’m really pleased to be staying at Kent. I love it here.

“Kent is an ambitious club on and off the field and, despite our troubles this year, we’re eager to perform well in all formats in 2025 and beyond that, too.”

The right-arm seamer joined Kent, initially on loan from Essex in 2021, before he secured a permanent Kent deal later that year.

He has made 51 appearances for Kent so far across all formats, taking 93 wickets. His best Kent figures came away to Hampshire in the County Championship in 2022 when he took 6-23 inside just seven overs.

Director of cricket Simon Cook felt the popular bowler’s work ethic proved a huge miss for Kent during their miserable 2024 campaign.

Cook: T20 Blast a missed opportunity

Walker: I’ve got plenty to offer

“Quinny is capable of putting in the hard yards for us - whether it be a new ball or not,” said Cook. “We missed his ability this season with his injury.

“He’s an extremely accurate bowler, able to build pressure, and I’m pleased that we’ll be able to call upon him for at least another year.

“He’s a very popular member of the dressing room and also provides our younger bowlers with that bit of experience to help them develop.”

News of Quinn’s contract extension comes after opening batsman Ben Compton penned fresh terms at Kent for the 2025 summer on Thursday.
