Kent's Jordan Cox has signed a two-year contract extension which will keep him at the club until 2023.

The 20-year-old came to prominence earlier this year when he scored 238 not out against Sussex in the Bob Wills Trophy.

His stand of 423 with Jack Leaning at Canterbury set a new Kent record for a first-class partnership.

Cox, who can also keep wicket, was picked as a batsman this summer with Joe Denly and Zak Crawley on England duty. He was also named fielder of the year at Kent's virtual 2020 awards.

Cox said: “I'm really excited about the forward momentum of this club and I'm delighted to extend my contract at my home county.

“I'm working hard to keep improving my game and I know that Kent is the best place for me to be right now, amongst a brilliant group of players and coaches all working in unison.

“This is just the beginning for me and I can't wait to contribute further in a Kent shirt.”

Kent director of cricket Paul Downton said: “Jordan has a bright future ahead of him and we’re thrilled that he has committed to his home county until at least the end of 2023.

“He is a young player who has already shown us a glimpse of what he can do and if he continues to work hard in training and to develop his game then he can become a major contributor for Kent in the coming seasons.”
