Darren Stevens reflected on another so near yet so far moment for Kent Spitfires after the 11-run defeat against Yorkshire at Canterbury.
Stevens hit 54, his 45th list A half century - in his 500th appearance for the county - before falling to a superb one handed catch by man-of the match Liam Plunkett - but admitted he was unaware of the career milestone.

Stevens said: "I did not know that, I heard Nick Knight mention it before the toss, - 500 games for Kent in all formats - that's a good effort, I like that.
"I still don't know how he (Plunkett) has caught that, it was behind him, it was over his head, and he got it in two fingers, so it was really frustrating.
"I kept saying let's get through him, and we'll win the game, because he was the hardest to face, bowling a lot of cross-seamers, very two paced, and you couldn't line him up like the others
"If we had got past him unscathed we would have won."
Stevens added: "it was frustrating to miss out getting to a semi-final again.
"It's a bit like Somerset a few years ago, they got the old burn on the back, getting to the semis, and not getting over the line.
"Fingers crossed we don't do that, because we have got a lot of youngsters in the side, who are still learning, but are very good players.
"I am sure it is not far away when Kent will get another trophy in the cabinet."
