The University of Kent at Canterbury will host the Kent Men’s and Women’s Epee and Sabre Championship on March 28.
For the first time, sabreurs fencing in the men’s event will be competing for the Mike Thorman Memorial Trophy.
Thornton, who lost his fight against cancer at the end of last year, was a keen fencer who had served on the county committee and played a big part in the organisation of the Kent Epee and Sabre competition over the years.
There is a full programme with the men’s epee to start at 9.30am, followed by the men’s sabre at 11am. The women will then proceed with the epee at noon followed by the sabre at 1.30pm.
The entry fee is £10 per weapon, and cheques should be made payable to KCAFU. Entries should be sent to Jane Clayton, 23 Ridgeway Cliff, Herne Bay, Kent, CT6 8JQ before March 20.
