Canterbury Ladies 1 Chelmsford 0
CANTERBURY Ladies maintained their 100 per cent home record in the English Slazenger League with a 1-0 victory over Chelmsford at Polo Farm on Saturday.
The decisive goal came from a short corner five minutes into the second period as skipper Mel Clewlow and Nikki Triggs combined to set up Hayley Brown, who swept home at the far post.
Canterbury might have won more comfortably but Clewlow and Cathy Gilliat-Smith were both denied by the woodwork, and in the closing stages keeper Becky Duggan produced two excellent saves as the visitors forced six corners in as many minutes.
The result kept Canterbury in fourth but they are now just three points behind leaders Slough who were held 3-3 by Bowdon Hightown.
Canterbury are away to bottom club Doncaster on Saturady and will be looking to improve on their away form having taken just one point from a possible nine on the road.
