Kent Cricket are gearing up for some much-needed action from the comfort of their own homes.

Following on from football’s QuaranTeam FIFA 20 video game tournament - which saw Gillingham eliminated at the first round stage by Newcastle United - our county cricket side are set to get involved in some virtual play too.

Kent Cricket fans will have something to watch when the Spitfires take part in the Quarantine Cup

The Cricketer Magazine are organising a tournament which features pro players from 11 first-class counties, along with some of the game’s favourite commentators.

The ‘Quarantine Cup’ will take place using the video game Cricket 19, from Sunday, April 12.

On the controls for Kent will be left-arm spinner Imran Qayyum.

Matches are to be live-streamed on YouTube and the draw has paired the Spitfires with Sussex, Glamorgan, Surrey and Leicestershire in the round-robin group stage.

Teams play each other once in matches lasting five overs a side.

The domestic cricket season was due to open on April 12 but the ECB have pushed the start back until at least May 28 due to the coronavirus crisis.

The Kent captain Sam Billings has agreed to have his head shaved to raise money for the NHS.
