Kent make it four in a row as they beat Surrey at Beckenham

Kent posted their joint-highest One Day total to beat Surrey by 220 runs at The County Ground in Beckenham on Friday.

Heino Kuhn played a fantastic innings to score 117 as The Spitfires reached 384-8 off their 50 overs in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Darren Stevens then bowled brilliantly taking 6-25 as Surrey were bowled out for 164 to make it four wins in a row for Kent.

Kent made one change from the team that beat Somerset on Tuesday with Imran Qayyum replacing Harry Podmore.

Daniel Bell-Drummond (48) and Heino Kuhn got the Spitfires off to a good start opening the batting and putting 93 on for the first wicket.

Kuhn then put on a 138-run partnership with Joe Denly before the latter was caught by Morne Morkel off Tom Curran for 78.

Kuhn played superbly for his ninth List A century from 91 balls. He was eventually caught on the boundary after making 117.

Alex Blake came in and helped accelerate the innings to push Kent over 300. He made 59 from just 26 balls hitting six sixes including four of those in four balls off the bowling of Gareth Batty.

Kent ended up with their joint highest One Day total as they finished on 384-8 from their 50 overs.

Tom Curran was the pick of the Surrey bowlers taking 4-75.

Surrey’s run chase faltered in the opening five overs losing two wickets for 33 runs.

Jason Roy was going well and was dominating the strike but was caught on the boundary off Imran Qayyum for 68 to leave them 97-3.

Wickets consistently fell through the middle overs with Qayyum (2-50) and Darren Stevens (6-25) keeping things tight to push the required run rate to more than nine an over.

Roy and Rory Burns (42) were the only ones to get going in the Surrey innings as they were bowled out for 164.
