The rain saved Kent from having to chase down a record total against Surrey at The Spitfire Ground on Friday in the Vitality Blast.
Aaron Finch smashed 86 as Surrey smashed 250-6 from their 20 overs.
Between innings the rain came down and prevented any further play in the match. It would have been a record score from Kent to chase down that total.
After winning Surrey won the toss and chose to bat, Finch proved why he is widely regarded as one of the best T20 batters in the world as he got Surrey off to a superb start.
He and Rory Burns scored 87 from the first six overs.
Finch smashed boundary after boundary to bring up his half-century from just 19 balls.
The breakthrough finally came on the last ball of the ninth over when Burns edged one through to Sam Billings off Calum Haggett for 50 with his side already on 120.
After smashing Imran Qayyum for 14 from his first four balls Finch was bowled by the spinner for 83 from 38 balls.
Despite losing Finch, Surrey continued to score at a phenomenal rate with every batter having a strike rate of more than 150.
Rikki Clarke smashed 16 from six balls and Ollie Pope came in towards the end to hit 34 from just 13 balls.
The bowling figures did not make pleasant reading for Kent with Qayyum (3-40 from three), Haggett (2-53) and Claydon (1-41) taking the wickets.
Carlos Brathwaite went for 55 from his three overs without taking a wicket.
Surrey ended on 250-6 posted their highest ever T20 total and it was just the fourth time a club in England had reached that score.
