A West Indian international seam bowler has joined Kent - becoming their second signing of the day.
Akeem Jordan, 29, replaces South African all-rounder Beyers Swanepoel as their second overseas option.
The news comes a hectic few hours after relegation-threatened County Championship Division 1 side Kent confirmed the arrival of Somerset bowler Alfie Ogborne on a two-game loan ahead of the start of their red-ball season run-in, beginning at Worcestershire from tomorrow.
“I’m delighted to join Kent and I’m really looking forward to getting started,” said Jordan.
“I understand the importance of the upcoming matches and I’m fully committed to playing my part in helping the squad finish strongly.
“I can’t wait to meet everyone at the club and get a chance to play in front of the Kent members and supporters.”
Jordan made his debut for The West Indies against The United Arab Emirates in 2023.
He has taken 67 wickets in 19 first-class games for Barbados, as well as featuring in the Caribbean Premier League for the Barbados Royals and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Jordan will be available to face Warwickshire, Hampshire and Nottinghamshire, as well as Worcestershire. He’s set to stay until September 20.
Director of cricket Simon Cook said: “We’re really pleased to have added Akeem into the squad.
“He’s, undoubtedly, an exciting talent and is a proven wicket-taker.
“We have identified Akeem as a player who has the ability to help us execute our strategies as we target maintaining our Division 1 status.”
Jordan joins Australian bowler Charlie Stobo, who is expected to depart on September 16 for Western Australia for the start of his league season, as Kent’s second overseas option.
Swanepoel has left Kent following his selection for South Africa A in their four-day series against Sri Lanka A.
England Cricket Board playing regulations allow for counties to have four overseas players registered at any one point with two permitted in a playing XI.
Kent squad to face Worcestershire: Bell-Drummond, Compton, Evison, Finch, Jordan, Garrett, Leaning, Muyeye, Ogborne, O’Riordan, Parkinson, Singh, Stewart.
