Laura Marsh will be greeted by the ever-present support of her family as she celebrates a landmark moment in her international career on Sunday.

The Kent woman is due to become the ninth England Women's player to reach 100 one-day international appearances when her side face West Indies at Worcester.

Her milestone outing will take place on the annual Family Day, which will see relatives of the players attend the penultimate meeting of the ODI series.

Marsh said: "It’s not only been a journey for me, it’s been a journey for them (her family). They have probably lived the ups and downs with me and had all the nerves and the excitement that I’ve had as well. It’s probably worse for them actually!

"It will be really special for them to hopefully see me get my 100th cap and special for me to have them there as well. They’ve been around for the last 13 years travelling around all over the world with me, so it will be really special to have them share that moment."

The 32-year-old started out her career as a seamer but has since served predominantly as an off-spinner in light of injury setbacks.

Such has been her persistence that Marsh now sits on 124 wickets in the one-day format following her figures of 3-30 against the West Indies on Thursday.

She added: "I wouldn’t say 100 caps was ever an aim but I guess there are not that many people who have made it to that figure in ODI cricket. That does make it very special.

"I’m just really proud to have played for England and to have got to represent my country for so many years. You don’t dream of making it this far.

"There were times when I thought I probably wouldn’t make it to 100. I had a smooth start to my international career and didn’t pick up any injuries for quite a long time. But then had a stint of injuries and at that point never thought I would have made it to 100.

"It’s something I’m really proud of. Obviously we are in the middle of a series and it’s just another game of cricket as well but yes, it will be an exciting day, especially with my parents there to witness

it."

Marsh recently contributed 122 runs and nine wickets to help Kent win the 2019 Women's County Championship title with a game to spare.

Victory with England in their series against the Windies will all-but secure qualification for the 2021 ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.
