Canterbury Hockey Club were displaced at the top of Conference East by Indian Gymkhana after surrendering a 2-0 lead in Sunday's clash between the two sides at Polo Farm.

After a goalless first half, Andrew Dunn put Canterbury ahead from a corner two minutes after the restart and in the 47th minute, Leigh Barratt pounced to make it 2-0.

Within two minutes, Laveen Jandu had halved the deficit and, after Jagdeep Gill had brought the sides level, James Stedman completed a stunning seven-minute comeback with the winner.

Both sides now have 19 points but Indian Gym head the table on goal difference.

Canterbury Ladies, meanwhile, slipped to their first defeat of the season when they lost 1-0 to Slazenger EHL Women's Premier Division leaders Bowdon Hightown.

The only goal of the game came on nine minutes when a shot from the prolific Tina Cullen beat keeper Abi Walker.

The result leaves Canterbury in fourth spot, 11 points adrift of Bowdon.
