Canterbury Ladies 4 Sutton Coldfield 1

THE daughter of Olympic gold medallist Sean Kerly was on the mark for Canterbury Ladies Hockey Club as they began their Slazenger England League campaign with a 4-1 win over Sutton Coldfield on Saturday.

Canterbury were without their own two Olympic stars, Mel Clewlow and Jen Wilson, but were already 2-0 ahead when 16-year-old Kerly struck after six minutes of the Premier Division match.

Hayley Brown scored in the first minute, and Lucy Barnes, from a penalty corner in the fifth, and Christina Houslop made it four after 15 minutes, before Katie Long replied just before half time.
