There was a triumphant start on St Lawrence & Highland Court’s Kent League Premier Division home return - with legendary ex-Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens at the heart of Saturday’s win.

Stevens, 47, blasted an 87-ball 101 - which included seven fours and seven maximums - against Blackheath in the hosts’ 232 all out, supported by Michael Hales Jr (41).

Opening bowler Arafat Bhuiyan (4-26) and Jas Bassan (3-55) were the best of the away side’s bowlers.

Stevens (1-35) did his bit with the ball amid his 10 overs, too, but opening bowler Joseph Payne’s 3-56 saw him finish with their best figures.

Blackheath captain Charlie-Sid Speller (38) top scored while tailenders Bassan (21), Tom Foster (18) and Bhuiyan, with a 10-ball 17 not out, got them close. With three needed off the last ball, Foster was run-out, though, as 2022 Division 1 champions St Lawrence got home.

An Alex Williams century guided Tunbridge Wells to a 67-run success at Holmesdale.

Williams’ 103 came off 99 balls and included seven maximums to get them to 223-7 from 50 overs, with support from Calvin Johnson (32 not out) and opener Chris Williams (32). Holmesdale opening bowler Callum Gallagher (2-33) was the pick of their bowlers.

The Holmesdale reply never really got going, despite Dom May’s 41 and 30 not out from Ben Fawcitt, as Liam McGroarty (6-33) did the damage.

Minster won at home against Sandwich Town.

Batting first, Joseph Parry (33 not out) and Surrey’s Laurie Evans (31) helped Minster reach 130-7 from their 40 overs despite Sandwich’s Australian overseas James Bazley (4-13) impressing again while Ben (1-24) and Rory Smith (2-38) took three wickets.

Openers Ben Chapman (28), Tom Chapman (20) and No.3 Rory Smith (28 not out) got the visitors to 60-1, only for James Hockley (5-17) and veteran Daniel Masters (2-7) to then skittle Sandwich for 107 in the 31st over.

Bexley edged a low-scoring match at Sevenoaks Vine by five wickets.

The hosts stumbled to 95 all out in the 33rd over. Evert Bekker (30) led the way while Adam Ball’s 3-11, supported by opening bowler Harry Dowling (2-27), did the bulk of the work.

Andrew Reid-Dick (3-27) gave Sevenoaks hope, only for Hugo Burdon’s unbeaten 50 to get Bexley over the line. The result leaves Vine at the foot of the table after the opening two games.

Lordswood won by 45 runs against Hayes.

Joe Gordon (92) guided them to 190 all out from 50 overs with support from Jack Laraman (36) and South African overseas Thando Ntini (35) - the son of Proteas legend Makhaya Ntini.

They reached their total despite opening bowler William MacVicar returning figures of 6-29.

In reply, despite contributions of 39 from opener Gareth Severin and 30 by Kent’s Alex Blake, Hayes were dismissed for 145 in the 46th over.

Hugh Scott’s 4-17 saw him do most of the damage for Lordswood.
