Darren Stevens has signed a new one-year contract extension at Kent.
The 43-year-old had been set to leave the club after 15 years at the end of this season having been told in July that he would not be offered a new contract.
A stunning finish to the red-ball campaign has since forced Kent to rethink their stance over the Canterbury fan favourite.
Having been loaned out to Derbyshire for the T20 Blast, Stevens returned to contribute a knock of 88 alongside a 10-wicket haul to help Kent to victory over Nottinghamshire in the County Championship.
He followed this up with an incredible career-best 237 in last week's club record 433-run victory win over Yorkshire.
In doing so, he also shared a club record sixth-wicket partnership of 346 with skipper Sam Billings, as well as the highest sixth-wicket stand at Headingley.
The same game also saw Stevens pick up a two wickets in Yorkshire's first innings and another five-fer in the second innings to surpass 50 wickets in Division 1 this season.
Stevens said: "I’m really pleased to commit myself to another year at this great county.
"I’m feeling great at the minute and I love playing for Kent.
"I feel like I still have a lot to bring to the team on and off the pitch and I am excited for the year ahead."
Kent’s Director of Cricket Paul Downton added: "Stevo’ has really excelled in this half of the Championship season, and his phenomenal run of form quite rightly has earned him this new deal.
"He has been a major contributor to our last two wins and has proved he is still a force to be reckoned with in Division 1."
