Kent spinner James Tredwell waits to discover whether he will be involved in England's ICC World Cup opener against Australia

James Tredwell made wicket-taking contributions to England’s final two ICC World Cup warm-up matches this week but his participation in the tournament remains unclear.

The Kent spinner, who turns 33 later this month, claimed 1-43 from nine overs against Pakistan on Wednesday, also holding two catches and making one not out with the bat but could not help England avoid a four-wicket defeat with seven balls to spare at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

On Monday, Tredwell took another two catches and claimed 1-20 off five overs as England beat the West Indies by nine wickets at the SCG.

It was Tredwell’s first appearance in nearly a month after being omitted from tri-series action against Australia and India.

England’s Pool A programme begins against the hosts in Melbourne on Saturday (3.30am GMT) before they travel to face New Zealand in Wellington next Friday, February 20.
