Ray Turner says he does not regret the strength of Faversham’s pre-season opposition, saying his squad will reap the rewards despite a second consecutive 4-0 defeat.

The Lilywhites lost at newly-promoted Conference Premier side Dover Athletic on Tuesday night, having lost by the same score against ambitious Maidstone a week earlier, and played-out a stalemate against a youthful Millwall side to begin pre-season.

A philosophical Town boss Turner said: “It’s been a bit of an education for us but it has given us a lot of motivation.

“I’m trying to get the boys up to speed and playing tough games now will hopefully pay dividends in the future.

Striker Luke Harvey saw red at Dover, and Turner reflected: “They have a right to beat us 4-0, they have got some quality players, have a good set-up there and have thrown a lot of money at it.

“It’s quite inspiring to be honest. We should all, myself and the players, aspire to be at that level, whether that is realistic or not.”
