CANTERBURY Rugby Club head coach Danny Vaughan is preparing his side for a tough second season in National League 3 South.

Vaughan's men finished a superb fourth in the division in their first season at the level after being crowned London South East Division 1 champions in 2006.

They kick off the new campaign on Saturday against Bridgwater and Albion – a team who finished two places below them last season. Kick-off at Merton Lane is 3pm.

Vaughan admitted his side will find the going harder this season facing the dreaded 'second-season-syndrome'.

He said: "Last year we were an unknown quantity and able to ruffle a few feathers. Teams will know us this year. Also there a some good new teams who have been promoted so the league will be stronger.

"We want to finish in the top half but if we could get a play-off place it would be the perfect end to the season."
