Kent Cricket assistant coach Matt Walker says the Spitfires just need to find some consistency to go with their talent to improve results

Kent assistant coach Matt Walker says he doesn’t have a magic wand he can wave to make it all better after seeing his side lose their last three games.
But what he does have is plenty of belief in his players being able to turn the situation around during another hectic playing schedule.
Kent host Essex in a NatWest T20 Blast South Group clash at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Thursday before heading to the Kia Oval to play Surrey on Friday night.
Saturday sees Kent resume their LV= County Championship Division 2 campaign, at Northampton.
They then head back to Canterbury to host Australia in the opening game of the tourists’ Ashes campaign on Thursday.
And Walker sees no problem with the players going from the shortest form of the game to the longest in their bid to end the run of defeats.
He said: “We’ve done enough chopping and changing from format to format now to understand the demands of it so we can’t use that as an excuse.
“What we’ve got to do is put it all together as a unit – it’s no good having the batsmen perform in one game and the bowlers in another. You won’t win games and do it consistently like that.
“We’ve played some good cricket and some poor cricket in the past three games and that’s what has been annoying. We let two potential wins slip away.
“The trouble is that we’ve just been unable to nail it as a team and that’s what is hurting us. But saying that, we are a good side with good players and we know what we are capable of but we’ve not shown it on a regular basis yet.
“We’ve just got to keep the faith, keep working hard and execute our game plans.
“I am positive we will get rewarded if we can.”
Kent have dropped to fifth in the T20 South Group and are now rock bottom of the county championship, following Essex’s win over Derbyshire.
Walker said of Kent’s T20 campaign: “We need points and need to win to do that – there is no point about letting anything else concern you. We’ve just got to be focused on beating Essex.”
