Jen Wilson says Canterbury Ladies need no extra motivation when they take on Surbiton in the second game of a bumper double-header at Polo Farm.
Defeat to Surbiton on the last day of the regular season saw the city club pipped to an historic Investec National Premier Division title, though they gained play-off revenge with victory in the 3rd/4th decider.
Coach Wilson said: “These are two new teams and we don’t need to look back to get any extra motivation. We have all the motivation we need because we want to try and stay ahead of them in the league.”
Canterbury lost ground on leaders Reading after twice being pegged back to draw 2-2 at Leicester on Saturday.
Reading – 6-0 winners at home to Sutton Coldfield – are now two points clear of Canterbury, also boasting a vastly superior goal difference, while third-placed Surbiton are two points behind the city club.
Wilson added: “We would have liked three points but you have to be pleased to come away from Leicester with anything.
“We’re playing back-to-back with the guys on Saturday which will be a unique and exciting occasion.”
