Barry Thompson and Pauline Paciorek called the shots at the Kent County Playing Fields Association's 65th Cecil Leitch 5 Club final.

Back after a two-year absence due to the pandemic, 30 men and 40 women battled it out in glorious sunshine at Canterbury Golf Club.

Thompson (h23), of Lydd GC, scored 44 points to win by two from Sidcup's Ted Fenwick (h28). Richard Penney (h19) of Shortlands was third with 37 points.

The men's nearest-the-pin winner was Donal Barry of Westgate & Birchington, while the longest drive went to Chris Board, of Shooters Hill.

Hythe Imperial's Paciorek (h33) scored 43 points - enough to pip Dartford's Jane King (h36) by a point to the women's title with Claire Fraser (h33), representing Wrotham Heath, third with 40 points.

Gill King of Darenth GC won the nearest-the-pin honours with home player Claire Wilson claiming the longest drive.
