A promising young batsman has become the latest Kent player to extend their contract.
Tawanda Muyeye, 21, has signed fresh terms which will keep him at The Spitfire Ground until at least the end of the 2025 season.
It comes after reigning emerging player-of-the-year Hamid Qadri on Thursday penned a contract extension, with young player-of-the-year and bowler-of-the-year Nathan Gilchrist also having done likewise recently.
Muyeye said: “I’m really excited to continue my journey as a professional cricketer at Kent.
“I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to play for this team across all formats.
“I’m still at the beginning of my career but to have been afforded these chances to play and keep improving has been a great motivator for me in becoming the best cricketer I can be.”
Kent director of cricket Paul Downton said: “Tawanda is a highly-talented young player who is held in high regard by the coaching staff and we’re delighted to secure his status as a Kent player for the next three seasons.
“He's one of the hardest workers in the side and has a very high ceiling - we have seen glimpses of his talent already as a Kent player.
“If he continues to work hard, I’m sure he will be a big part of our future.”
The right-hander joined Kent on the eve of the 2021 season after being named Wisden Schools Cricketer of the Year and has 31 appearances for the county so far.
He has represented Kent across all formats over the past two seasons - including an innings full of promise opening the batting in a T20 Blast match against Surrey last July, in which he scored a 29-ball 41.
Born in Zimbabwe, Muyeye, who bowls off-spin, finished the 2022 summer in style, as he scored 85 in the first innings of a big County Championship Division 1 home win over Somerset.
