Sam Billings is set to return to the Kent side for Tuesday’s match against Somerset.
Billings has been at the Indian Premier League playing for Chennai Super Kings, who won the tournament on Sunday.
He will take back captaincy duties from Joe Denly who has been deputising for the early part of the season.
Head coach Matt Walker said: “He’s going to play. He’s very keen to play so that’s really good to bring Sam back in to captain.
“Joe has done a fantastic job and I think he may be glad for a break after games like that (against Hampshire).
“Sam comes in and that strengthens our side dramatically and it’s a nice time to come in on the end of a really good win.
“He’s looking forward to getting his teeth stuck into Kent and it’s like a new signing when he comes back.”
The 26-year-old played 10 matches for Chennai in this year’s IPL, contributing 108 runs at an average of 13.5.
He played a match-winning innings against Kolkata Knight Riders hitting 56 off 23 balls to give his side a five wicket victory.
