AUSTRALIAN all-rounder Greg Blewett has arrived in Kent with a clear message for the county's supporters ahead of the new season.
The 31-year-old winner of 46 baggy green caps is the six-week replacement for fellow Aussie Andrew Symonds at a time when the club are still reeling from injuries to star players David Fulton and Min Patel.
Blewett, from Adelaide, said: "I’m looking forward to playing over here, making an impact with Kent, meeting new players and playing on some great little grounds."
With 200 first-class appearances to his credit and stints with Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire under his belt, Blewett brings class, experience and a cool head to the Kent dressing room.
He stressed: "It keeps me fresh as a player to be around new people, different cricketers and picking up ideas from new coaches like Ian Brayshaw.
“I’d like to feel part of an English club, forge a relationship like Darren Lehmann has with Yorkshire, and perhaps I can do that here at Kent.
“I enjoyed my time at Headingley but it was documented as a bit of a disaster at the time. Sure, I’d liked to have played better there, but it wasn’t that bad because I was changing things with my game back then.
“I felt I had a pretty reasonable year at Trent Bridge. I got 1,300 runs and five hundreds. All I really lacked was a big score, a double hundred.
“The players were keen for me to go back but then Stuart MacGill stepped in, took 40-odd wickets in a handful of games, and they signed him for two years.”
