CANTERBURY City have suffered a setback before they have even kicked a ball with the resignation of manager Bill Clark.
Clark, who was only appointed before Christmas, walked away from the project saying he and the committee had grown apart in terms of how the club should be run.
He admitted it was a hard decision to make but claimed that there were just too many differences.
Clark said: "I was definitely up for the job but for me there was just too much politics going on. You need to get your first team right and I felt there was too much emphasis on the youth section.
"The job was not the job that was sold to me during the interview."
Chairman Phil Knight said: "We were disappointed when it happened but no one person is bigger than the project. We in no way see this as a setback."
Mr Knight said the club would press ahead with their open meeting at the Westgate Hall on Friday, March 9, by which time they hoped to have a new manager.
