Cinderford 19 Canterbury 3
Canterbury's slim hopes of winning a promotion play-off spot in National League 3 disappeared in a mudbath at Cinderford on Saturday.
The Forest of Dean side’s victory ensured their promotion to National League 2 as runners-up to champions Mounts Bay.
Despite playing into a strong wind and being short-handed after two sin-binnings, the city club went into the break only four points behind.
Gert De Kock’s penalty kick were the first points of the game but a converted try put the home side into the lead before the break.
After the break a penalty try and a third score late on secured a deserved victory for the West Country side.
