Andy Pratt says Canterbury Rugby Club will need to take risks if they are to upset National 2 South leaders Hartpury College on Saturday.

Canterbury recorded a shock 31-29 victory in Gloucestershire in February and that, coupled with the city club’s rise to fourth in the table, mean they are unlikely to be underestimated on Saturday.

Head coach Pratt said: “We go there without any pressure. “Nobody is expecting us to win. They are not going to take us lightly, not after last year and the fact they lost at Redruth last weekend. They will want to right the wrong of last week and make sure they get the points.”

Hartpury’s defeat in Cornwall was their third of the campaign and Pratt added: “If we’re to get anything out of the game we need to play with risk – if you play without risk you become predictable.

“We are looking at the video of the game against London Irish (which the city club edged 23-20 on Saturday) and there are things we need to work on.”

Prop Matt Pinnick misses out for Canterbury while Brook Cowan (ankle) faces a late fitness test.
