Canterbury Ladies lost ground on Investec National Premier Division leaders Reading after twice being pegged back to draw 2-2 at Leicester on Saturday.

Eliza Brett put the city club ahead five minutes before half-time but Vanessa Hawkins drew the hosts level midway through the second half.

A penalty stroke from Nikki Kidd four minutes later put the city club back infront but the lead lasted just three minutes as Hannah Fair converted from a penalty corner to earn a share of the points.

Reading - 6-0 winners at home to Sutton Coldfield - are now two points clear of Canterbury, also boasting a vastly superior goal difference, while third-placed Surbiton and fourth-placed Clifton are two points behind the city club.

Yet again the city club left themselves a mountain to climb, going 3-0 down to the Notts side through Stuart Pilgrim on 23 minutes, Adam Dixon four minutes before the break and Sam Ward two minutes after half-time.

Canterbury did find their feet and Thomas Richford and Matt Farrer set up a grandstand finish with goals in the final three minutes, however they were unable to find a leveller.
