Canterbury Ladies’ 100% record in Investec National Premier Division was brought to an unceremonious end by a 3-1 defeat at Beeston on Saturday.

Sophie Robinson handed the Nottinghamshire side the lead four minutes before the break and Erica Sanders doubled the home side’s advantage three minutes later.

Canterbury battled on and Nikki Kidd pulled one back with a penalty stroke four minutes after the restart before the city club pinned their hosts back.

However the crucial fourth goal of the game went to Beeston on the break, with Robinson netting her second, as Canterbury were overhauled at the top of the table by Reading on goal difference.

Rob Pryce and Phil Ball goals had put Wimbledon ahead, but the hosts hit back to lead through goals from Mickel Pierre, Isaac O’Connor and Liam Foster.

There were a few nervous moments after Ben Allberry saw a 62nd minute penalty stroke saved by keeper Tom Millington, but the city club hung on to claim a victory which took them up to sixth.
